How To Be In Style During Summer

By Kamal Jahid

Summer is not over.

In this article I want to share with you some style tips that you can apply right now, to have a GREAT style during summer.

Before we start, you must know that…

… In a heatwave :

You should avoid looking like a German tourist, for whom the word ‘Entspannung’ (relaxation) is taken too much to heart.

The good news is that it’s possible to wear clothes in which you can feel comfortable and still appear elegant.

Choose garments that are specially designed for the season, cut so as to allow air to circulate, particularly in the back and in the legs.

Note that this doesn’t mean badly cut and shapeless, just a little loose.

Avoid those “three-quarter” pants and multi-coloured Bermudas. Experiment with materials: pants in fine cotton or linen work in this situation.

Shirts

My usual advice is to avoid short-sleeved styles, especially if they come down to the middle of the forearm.

Guaranteed geek effect!

A great short-sleeved shirt that’s simple with a hint of ‘rock’ and no obvious designs or logos is fine.

However, you will look more stylish in a shirt with long sleeves that are carefully rolled up just above the elbows.

Shoes

Quality sneakers, moccasins or desert boots will look elegant, at least during the day.

If you wear sandals, it’s OK if they are in leather and relatively plain.

It doesn’t require much work; without going as far as having a pedicure, at least make sure your feet are cleaned and well cared for, especially the toenails.

I would suggest foot deodorant – it’s not expensive and it saves lives! In the evenings, according to the circumstances, wear city shoes or quality sneakers. It would be a pity not to get into the best clubs because you made a bad choice.

Finally…

There’s not much point in my telling you what I think about crocs, running shoes, backpacks and caps – outside of the sporting context or just for cocooning. Don’t fill your pockets until they are bulging and for heaven’s sake, stop tying your sweater around your waist; it ruins your silhouette.

Good luck and enjoy your summer Gentlemen!
